I came across this recipe while searching for scrub recipes. A sugar or salt scrub is a great way to exfoliate before a self-tan or just at the end of the summer when the sun has made you a little scaly. You can keep a jar by the tub or in the shower and use it once a week. It’s also a nice gift idea and you can find all kinds or jars and containers at Target or a craft store. I’d recommend not getting a glass container though they do tend to be prettier. I once shattered an Origins glass jar full of body scrub in the shower. Nakedness and broken glass don’t mix.

What you will need:
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Honey
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Sweet Almond Oil
- 1/4 tsp. Fresh Lemon Juice or Lemon Oil (If using oil use 1/8 tsp.) (Optional)
Directions (from Frugal Style): Pour the brown sugar in to a bowl and add in oil until the brown sugar is moist, but not too saturated. Next stir in your honey to help the whole polish come together. Drop in a dash of fresh lemon juice, and voila! You have your very own body scrub/polish that’s such a treat. Store in an airtight container. This scrub is great for giving yourself a pedicure or manicure at home.

The kind of containers that will be the best and easiest to manage in the shower are ones like the one below. They won’t break, they will keep ingredients fresh and they are easy to open without too much fiddling around in the shower.

Acrylic storage containers are great for keeping in the shower without fear of shattering them.
