Some clothes in my wardrobe get worn a lot.  In heavy rotation is this shirt, which I have in black.

I started spotting it everywhere in the last couple months.  And it pretty much looks good on everyone.  The contrast panelling is a little different (there are jersey ribbed panels on the side) and the cut is slimming.  It’s also a little on the long side so it hides a little muffin top, and it allows you to tuck it in if you want without coming out when you stretch or lean over.  If you don’t have much of a waist, the cut give the illusion of one.  It’s also something you can wear to work but can be super casual too.  It washes well and barely needs ironing.

I’ve seen this shirt everywhere.  On celebs, oh hip mamas, on college girls.  Claire Dunfey on Modern Family has it in several colors.  It’s one of those rare pieces of clothing that looks good on lots of people.  Miracuously it still looks good slightly rumpled.  Also, unlike a t-shirt it isn’t going to get those tiny holes that all my other shirts seem to get at the waist line, from (I can only guess) when I lean against the kitchen counter when making food, feeding kids etc.  I’ve had mine at least a year and I’ve had no issues with it.

The James Perse contrast panel shirt is a staple. Modern Family mom, Claire has one in several colors, probably because it's so flattering.

The James Perse shirt is about $140, sometimes more depending on where you find it.  Pretty pricey.  I have the knock off version that Target has stocked for about two years.  It’s made by their Converse One Star brand and honestly I can’t tell the difference.  Plus their version comes in NINE colors.  Cost?  Just $22.99.  You can find it in stores with the Converse stuff in the women’s section or online.
